Kiwano Melon (Cucumis Metuliferus) Seeds
Kiwano Melon (Cucumis Metuliferus) - esp. rare and unique annual vine with absolutely outstanding looking fruits. Covered with yellow stripy skin entirely covered with horns, it opens up to an even more unique appearance inside. Bright green, jelly-like flesh with refreshing, cucumber, banana and melon flavour topped with a dash of lime. Very rich in vit. C and dietary fibber. The fruit is usually eaten fresh, though it as well can be used in cooking. Fast and easy growing, is definitely one of the attractive rarities to be grown in own home/garden!
Growing: Choose a location with full sun and plant inside well drained, loamy soil with a pH of 6-6.5. Push the seed 1.2cm deep and cover with extra layer of soil. Water regularly when neened to keep the soil moist, though avoid overwatering, which often causes the rot of the seeds/roots. Regular fertilizing is recommended to support healthy growth and fruit foliage. Provide climbing support, as this is a climbing vine. Tastes best if allowed to rippen naturally on a vine. Harvest in about 100-110 days.
